Some indicators include persistent feelings of fear, anxiety, or depression, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting others, or experiencing flashbacks. Survivors may also struggle with low self-esteem, isolation, or unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as substance abuse. Physical symptoms, like unexplained aches or sleep disturbances, can also be linked to trauma.
