Do you know how to become a woman Google Techmaker?
About the Google Techmaker program
The Google Techmakers program is an initiative designed to support and empower women in the field of technology. Launched by Google, the program aims to increase the representation of women in tech by offering resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to aspiring female technologists. It focuses on creating a supportive community where women can learn, grow, and excel in their careers.
Through Techmakers, women have access to exclusive events, workshops, and training sessions that cover various aspects of tech, including coding, software development, and entrepreneurship. The program also provides opportunities to connect with other women in the industry, share experiences, and collaborate on projects.
By offering scholarships, professional development, and mentorship, the Google Techmakers program helps women build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the tech industry, while encouraging greater diversity and inclusion within the sector.
Lack of diversity in tech
Google is surprisingly homogeneous when it comes to hiring practices with very only 30% of its workforce comprised of women and less than 5% of Black, Hispanic, and Other (both male and female) employees:
The fact remains that managers tend to hire people who look and act like themselves. Google is looking to change this with initiatives such as Women Techmakers, a program that provides visibility, community, and resources for women in technology. This creates a space for sisters to support sisters.
“We’re raising awareness around unconscious bias and fostering an environment where every Googler can thrive.“
