Climate Change Means Mother Earth is Upset-We Should Help

Climate change means that Mother Earth is upset. Climate change and Mother Earth go hand-in-hand.

Climate change is no joke.

The more “natural” catastrophic events we have, the more unnatural they become.  Has your home or favorite vacation spot become unhabitable, at least part of the year?  Have you experienced more of the following:

  • Earthquakes
  • Hurricanes
  • Tsunamis
  • Northeasters
  • Mudslides
  • Tornados
  • Flooding
  • Severe cold
  • Severe heat
  • Unusual animal behavior
  • Unusual insect behavior

“At the most basic level, we breathe and reproduce as a small, yet significant part of her world.  In Mother Nature’s domain, we are all valuable and loved.  We all have gifts and our lives are full of infinite possibilities.”
Angela D. Coleman, Girls Guide How to Be Green

What are we going to do, just sit here and watch?  No!  We are going to help.

Our Mother Earth is upset

“While nurturing and caring for all of her inhabitants by providing literally everything we need to survive, she can also be uncompromisingly decisive.  If something is in her way and she’s on a mission, it will be destroyed.  Earthquakes, floods, mudslides, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, avalanches, and sinkholes are just some of the ways that Mother Nature does what she does.

No matter how people may try, she cannot be ignored or controlled.  Some even call her temperamental.  No matter what they say, everyone needs her.”

The ultimate goal

Mother Nature is actually not trying to destroy us.  She is struggling to get back in balance, correct the issues that are causing her such turmoil, grief, confusion, and harm. In direct response to what we have done and are still doing now, she is protecting herself from us, not the other way around.

Through harm reduction, we can stop hurting her and making her upset.  We can heal her and heal the world.

The time is now

When we help the earth, we help ourselves.  Yet, still, some people remain unmotivated and unconvinced.  Is it hatefulness toward our environment, its people, the cause itself, ourselves?  Regardless of the reason, more of us are realizing that it’s time to act more.  Now, we have a heightened sense of urgency.

If not now, when?

“There is no one way to be green and endless possibilities.  As you become more environmentally conscious, you will find the ways that make the most sense for you.  This is a guide that simply encourages your eco-enlightenment by providing a framework to start now.  These changes will inevitably last a lifetime and inspire future generations.”

10 tips to help

  1. Stop using plastic bags.  Bring your own reusable bags to stores when you shop.
  2. Buy clothing at thrift stores to reduce fashion waste, plus promote fair wages and fair trade.
  3. Stop buying and drinking single-use plastic bottles for water, juice, coffee, etc. Carry and use a reusable bottle instead.
  4. Recycle all of your garbage as allowed by local regulations:  glass, metal, plastic, and paper.  Try to return all of it back to the earth or promote its use for new products.
  5. Compost your food.  Put all non-animal food waste in a composter and pretty soon, you will have enriched soil.
  6. Stop using plastic straws. I mean, do we really NEED them?
  7. Use solar power and other clean energy solutions.
  8. Walk, ride your bike, drive a low-fuel, hybrid, or electric car to reduce fossil fuels.
  9. Join an organization that protects the environment and helps Mother Nature to survive.
  10. Spread the word! Share your strategies to help Mother Earth and encourage others to do the same.
