You home is your sanctuary. I know that you know this, so treat your home sanctuary accordingly!
Our homes can heal.
How can we embrace and express the “home as sanctuary” concept? Let me explain using these 5 easy tips.
1. Stop focusing on what you see and focus on how you feel.
Feng Shui teaches us that the energy of nature is everywhere. Some energies mix and combine more harmoniously than others. Use all of your senses, not just one or two: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. They are all equally valuable and important in creating a mood.
2. Create a home sanctuary by using color therapy.
Different colors have different emotional impacts. Some colors help you feel more grounded, others more excited. Find what colors you love most. Which colors nurture you and help you feel protected? Use those.
3. Establish your home as a safe and sacred space.
This is what a sanctuary is. By being a refuge in which you can be your most authentic, honest self, we can honor the unique and special spaces we call home. This also means not allowing negative influences and people to disrupt the peace you have achieved here.
4. Create opportunities for beauty and joy in your home sanctuary.
You invite more beauty and joy into your home by having beauty and joy in the home. Soft fabrics, beautiful textiles, gorgeous artwork, graceful sculptures and furniture, flowers, warm colors, and metallics help you appreciate the finer things inside and outside of yourself.
5. Don’t forget function.
Your home must work for you, including the items in it. Repair or replace anything broken, clear clutter from the surfaces and floors, remove dust and old items that no longer serve you. This enhances your productivity and your emotional wellbeing, plus helps you let go and move on.
