What does dating look like today?

For many centuries, couples met at balls and dances, and young girls were chaperoned as their suiters courted them.

Then, came the dating culture.  Many years after that, friends and colleagues began introducing people so they could find love. However, times has changed a lot since then and now we live in the era of online dating.

When previously our love lives were family affairs known in the community, online communication has changed all that.  People now prefer to find new people on apps, away from the hustle and bustle of clubs and parties and away from our families. No matter how they meet though, the fundamentals of dating have remained the same throughout the years.

Dating is the golden period in which a couple gets to know each other, have fun, and enjoy each other’s company, often without worrying about long-term domestic issues or how their union may affect the future.

While some people date for sex, others are genuinely looking for long-term partners to develop a healthy relationship with.

The problem arises when both partners are looking for different things during the dating period, which may lead them to conflict and eventually go their separate ways.

That being said, dating is a wonderful way to get to know your potential love interest without any predetermined commitment.

Domestic Violence: Finding Love After Trauma

Couples who usually have a blast in their dating phase sometimes lose the charm in a long-term relationship.  This is why it is so important to have date nights, no matter how long a couple has been together.

Every once in a while, it is healthy for couples to just focus on each other without all of the worries and responsibilities that they may now have.  Spending a few hours together just like they did in their previous dating days can bring back good memories, and keep things fresh and interesting. This keeps the romance alive and also reminds a couple why they fell in love in the first place.
