The DC superhero sisterhood for girls is pretty interesting.  The sisterhood franchise was launched in July 2015 as DC Super Hero Girls.

Original characters featured at the launch were Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Katana, and Bumblebee. Other characters include:  Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Star Sapphire, Beast Boy, Cheetah, Hawkgirl and Catwoman.

What it is

DC Super Hero Girls attend Super Hero High School and deal with the awkwardness of growing up.  Oh yes, they also have special gifts.

Why it matters

Young girls require positive role models who encourage them to be individuals and support each other.

What you can do

Encourage media that helps girls move beyond the superficial, love themselves, and dream big.

  1. Hi,
I’m a writer and producer based on gender, age, and ethnic diversity. It’s time for women to take leadership roles in the industry both in front of and behind the cameras. You don’t have to be a superhero to be a leader. Let’s talk and see where our goals intersect.
