Fall Skincare Routine for Winter Coming

Is your fall skincare routine ready for winter coming?

Fall is here and summer has been over.  Have you switched to a fall skincare routine yet? If you need guidance on what to buy and how to transition from summer to fall skincare routine, read on!

1. Use a better moisturizer.

Specifically, switch to a thicker moisturizer.

Before bed, add enough moisture to the skin to help retain moisture in chilly weather. Make sure that you’re using a moisturizer that is non-clogging and non-sticky.  You don’t want that icky feeling on your face!

Eau Thermale Avene’s Tolerance Extreme Cream is a great choice, especially if you break out easily.  It’s great for sensitive skin and it is paraben-free, fragrance-free, and gluten-free!

You can also add face oil into your fall skincare routine using products like this organic face oil with Anti-Aging Moringa Leaf Organic Jojoba Oil-it provides deep hydration and is an excellent antioxidant.

2. Use a moisturizing serum such as this Eva Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum.

It has anti-aging and moisturizing components packed with Vitamins B and C.  You can use it as a stand-alone treatment or apply it before you apply your moisturizer.

3. Switch your clarifying toner to a hydrating toner.

In the summer, you may need a clarifying toner to remove excess sebum and oil in your face due to the hot weather temperatures.  However, in the fall and through winter, you need to switch it to a hydrating toner.

And here’s something to remember, your toner should be alcohol-free.

This KLAIRS  Supple Preparation Facial Toner is alcohol and paraben-free.  It hydrates and calms sensitive skin. So if you see red spots on your face after taking a bath, this should calm it down.  It’s packed with plant extracts and soothing ingredients.

4. Don’t exfoliate.

It’s easy to over-exfoliate during the fall season so it’s better to ease up on it.

The cold season weakens the skin barrier and makes skin prone to irritation. If you really need to exfoliate, follow it up right away with a soothing mask or aloe vera gel.

This Isntree Clear Skin 8% AHA Essence uses glycolic and lactic acid. These are mild exfoliants that hydrate your face even after exfoliation.

5. Moisturize your lips.

We all know that chilly weather can contribute to chaffed lips, which can be so painful.

This JACK BLACK – Intense Therapy Lip Balm with SPF 25 and Green tea antioxidants can help with your dry and chaffed lips.

If you want pink and supple lips, you have to take care of them because no amount of lipstick compares to healthy pinkish lips!

6. Add eye creams.

Under-eye creams and the skin around the eyes shouldn’t be ignored as well especially this fall season.

A good eye cream definitely needs to be a part of your fall skincare routine.  This Neutrogena Hydroboost Hydrating Gel Eye Cream with hyaluronic acid is one of the best choices. Hyaluronic acid acts as a sponge for dry skin which creates a more supple and smooth skin.

It provides the long-lasting and intense moisturizing power of a cream.

7. If you have ultra-sensitive skin, add collagen and aloe products.

If all suggested products still don’t work and you still feel a burning sensation from dryness, the best thing to do is hydrate and coat your skin with creams and serums that have elastin, collagen, and aloe vera.

This NaturSense Organic Aloe Vera Gel that you can get on Amazon is great for wind burns and overall hydration.

8. The last one on the fall skincare list is… a sleeping pack

An overnight mask is a beauty regimen that’s mostly overlooked by most people and you can actually skip this.  However, it will be beneficial to your skin during this season.

You see, while you’re sleeping, you’re not hydrating and an overnight sleep mask is the best way to keep your skin hydrated while you get some shut-eye.

We suggest this Ebanel Korean Collagen Facial Face Mask Sheet which also decreases fine lines and wrinkles and gives an extra glow to the skin.

If these two things weren’t already a part of your skincare regimen, they should be during the cooler months. Just as you should switch to a thicker moisturizer, adding these products moisturizes your lips and the skin around your eyes.

“Our skin does not like sudden transitions, and by adding lip and eye creams, it helps with this transition,” Dr. Tzu says.

She adds that for lips, something as simple as using Vaseline Petroleum Jelly ($6, will suffice.

5. Continue using sunscreen.

While UV radiation is greater during the summertime, it’s still present throughout all four seasons.

Sunscreen should be used at all times because it generally helps decrease the incoming UV radiation,” Dr. Tzu says. “UV radiation accelerates and increases the risk of skin cancer.” She recommends sticking to a daily SPF 30 (at least).

6. Add Vitamin C.

Vitamin C works double duty in the colder months and helps combat SPF rays that aren’t fully blocked by your sunscreen,” says Anne Chapas, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and the founder and medical director of Union Square Laser Dermatology in New York City.

“It also evens skin pigmentation, which helps to boost collagen production resulting in a brighter complexion.”

7. Add a humidifier into the mix.

Along with your regular skincare regimen, dermatologists suggest investing in a humidifier during the fall and winter to boost hydration at home. “

Humidifiers add moisture to the air, and your skin constantly interfaces with the air,” Dr. Tzu says. “The more moisture in the air, the more moisture it’ll share with your skin.”
