Hair Care Techniques For Shiny Healthy Hair

Haircare is not always a hot topic. There are constant trends about skincare but how about hair care?

They say that hair is the crowning glory.  It’s literally on top of your head and it will elevate any look.

That’s why when it comes to makeup and fashion, hair and makeup always go together.

I am writing this article when I came across this short video on Tiktok of a woman with such magnificent glorious hair-honest to goodness, it’s the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen!

And the good news is, she shared how she achieved her luscious locks.

According to Lilly Van Brooklyn, these are the steps on how she achieved her shiny glorious hair.

Tip # 1: cut 10cm off your hair

According to Glamour Magazine, cutting your hair will make it grow healthier eliminating the fact that hair would split, usually at the ends.

Note that you should trim your hair every two months.

Tip # 2:  moisturize your hair

Tip # 3:  do scalp massage

According to Lilly Van Brooklyn, doing scalp massage during every bath is essential. Why is that? A scalp massage will distribute the scalp oils in your hair, making it shiny and smooth. Here’s a scalp massager from Amazon.

Tip #4:  use silk pillowcases

Here’s a link to an article we wrote about The Many Benefits of Silk Pillowcases, but to give you an overview, cotton, and other fabrics damage the hair as it causes more friction. Also, silk pillowcases do not absorb moisture from your hair.

On to my next point, you should definitely forego using towels to dry your hair if you want gorgeous locks. You should be using a cotton t-shirt as a towel. This practice is also followed in the Curly Hair Method.

Tip # 5: add B vitamins to your diet

One of the best-known and proven vitamins for hair growth Biotin. Which is a B-vitamin. You see, when taking care of your hair you should address it both externally and internally. When it comes to hair care, it’s not enough that you nourish it from the inside you should also nourish them from the inside by taking the right supplements.

Tip #6:  use rice water for growth

Okay, this is tricky as some consider it gross.  However, it’s a trending haircare tip that actually works. It’s cheap yet very efficient! Here’s how to make your rice water for growth:

  1. Get ½ cup of uncooked rice.
  2. Rinse once or twice in running water. Thoroughly.
  3. Place the washed rice in a bowl with 2–3 cups of water.
  4. Leave the mixture to soak for 30 minutes.
  5. Strain the rice water into a spray bottle.

Spritz your hair with rice water, from your scalp then massage it for 5 minutes or more.

This step stimulates growth and strengthens your hair. It also increases hair elasticity and bounce.

Wash your hair like you normally with your shampoo after leaving the rice water in your hair for 5 minutes. You can do this once or twice a week.

Tip # 7:  use no heat for four months

This means no blow-drying, curling, or ironing. I promise you this sacrifice is worth it!

Tip # 8:  eat healthy food

Eat more of these foods according to @Lilly on TikTok:

  • Cinnamon for blood circulation
  • Nuts, Almond, Walnut, Cashew (foods for healthy hair)
  • Blueberries (antioxidants)
  • Oysters (selenium and zinc)
  • Salmon (omega3 fatty acids)
  • Spinach (iron and folate)
  • Avocado (vitamin E),
  • Sweet peppers (vitamin C)
