Resilience simultaneously protects us and empowers us.
At Sisterhood Agenda, we understand that your life circumstances do not define who you are.
In this Age of Aquarius, we have all been experiencing multiple transitions. It’s time for a homecoming! We need our village now more than ever.
Everyone deserves to have a beautiful home sanctuary.
Learn how Sisterhood Agenda built its award-winning eco-facility, the SEA: Sisterhood Empowerment Academy on St. John in the Virgin Islands, and recovered from Hurricanes Irma, Jose, and Maria.
Experience Sisterhood Agenda’s new housing model for women and children in Baltimore County called PARKS Holistic Housing: affordable, climate-change resilient housing that is harmonious with Mother Earth while promoting sustainability and wellness for people and planet.
Join the cause as, together, we overcome obstacles to promote fair housing and environmental justice with community connection, safe spaces, eco-friendly homes, trauma-informed support, and green spaces for health, healing, and empowerment.
What is resilience?
“Resilience is a shield that strengthens holistically.”
Angela D. Coleman, Life After ACEs: Overcoming Girlhood Trauma
More than “strength,” resilience refers to the capacity of individuals to maintain a relatively stable equilibrium and healthy levels of psychological and physical functioning after exposure to a potentially disruptive event and/or adversity.
Being resilient
Resilience helps you adapt to reclaim your sense of self, dignity and power so that you can recover and bounce back.
Most of us have an idea of how resilient we are, as difficult as it may be to measure. Are you curious and want to know more? The first step is to find your ACE score.

WHAT YOUR ACE SCORE MEANS
This is a test where 10/10 is NOT a good thing. “Points”=ACES, one point for each “Yes” answer. A score of 4 points means that you experienced 4 ACEs. An ACE score of 4 or higher is considered to be a high ACE score. A score of 7-10 is extremely high. Read more.
Resilience beats all obstacles
Obstacles test our resilience all the time. these obstacles include:
- State of mind
- A person or a group of people
- Dysfunction
- Department
- Team
- Special law
- Time
Of course, there are many more obstacles that you have faced and will face in the future. Overcoming these challenges will help you increase your resilience even more.
Resilience is proactive
We can protect ourselves from:
- Homelessness
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Lack of purpose
- Feelings of rejection
- Lack of self and pride
Resilience is beauty
Like the feng shui element, wood, which includes all trees, plants and flowers, resilence is beautiful. Wood promotes health, growth, and new beginnings. It’s timeless and cannot be bought. It can be elegant. With positive vibrations, beauty heals. We can all glow.

Name 3 beautiful things. Don’t forget to include yourself!
