Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is an inexpensive and common product that ou can find in almost any supermarkets. Little do most people know, virgin coconut oil can be used on your hair, your face, and all over your body.

When you want to be all-natural and you’re on a budget, VCO is one of the best products out there.

It has great benefits for skin, hair, body, and can even aid with weight loss.  In this article, we will show you how you can use coconut oil for your skin and hair.

According to several studies, coconut oil can improve the moisture of dry skin.  It can also help reduce the symptoms of eczema, xerosis, and atopic dermatitis. (1) (2)

VCO showed effectivity through significant improvement in skin hydration and an increase in skin surface lipid levels.

It can also:

  • Treat acne
  • Moisturize dry skin
  • Protect your skin from harmful UV rays

A study found that VCO blocks about 20% of the sun’s UV rays. Coconut oil also has anti-inflammatory effects.

Do you have VCO in your pantry? Here’s how you can use them for beauty purposes:

1. Use Virgin Coconut Oil for oil cleansing

Oil cleansing is the first step in the 12-step Korean routine for that glass-skin effect.

You can use VCO for this step by rubbing the oil on your face in circular motions down to your neck.

Massage gently removing the “gunk” in your pores. Finish it up by using a gentle face wash to remove all oil residue.  Then, rinse thoroughly.

2.  Create your own face mask

Try this trick:

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with 1 teaspoon baking soda to form a paste.
  2. Apply directly to your skin focusing on areas where blackheads are more common – nose, chin, etc.
  3. Rub gently with your fingers in a circular motion for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Wash the mask off with cold water and pat your face dry with a clean towel.
