Here are 5 social media tips for girls that may help if you ever wonder about being addicted to social media AND want to know what you can do about it.
Number #1: Remove social networking apps.
There’s no need to close your account. If you delete the apps from your smartphone, you won’t feel the need to refresh the tab every time you open it.
Number #2: Turn off your notifications.
You can stop getting alerts from social networking apps by going to their settings pages. You will naturally check in less frequently without frequent notifications.
We all understand how it works. Your device will send more engaging stuff the more you click on it.
Number #3: Give yourself time limitations.
If you want to be reminded to leave an app after a specific amount of time has passed, you can set time limits. Set up time restrictions for yourself when using social media.
Lastly, try to stop using social media for a while. It doesn’t matter if it’s daily, weekly, or monthly. Girls’ mental health can benefit greatly from taking time away from social media.
Number #4: Don’t post when you’re angry or sad.
If your feelings are running high, it’s best to hold off on posting. You deserve to be in your feelings and process them the way you need to without immediately involving other people in your business and process.
It might be tempting to use social media to complain and get approval. Hold off before posting anything to avoid making matters worse.
Number #5: Go outside.
Take a walk, feel the sun on your face, or walk in the rain to refocus your attention onto your physical self and feel the love of Mother Earth. Face-to-face interactions with loved ones can also help you manage negative social media feelings.
