What is #GivingTuesday?
#GivingTuesday is a splendid day of love, unity, and compassion. It is a day where charitable institutions around the world, as well as nonprofits, come together to reach one goal: to help those in need.
It is considered the biggest giving day of the year.
It is not only limited to giving tangible gifts but also includes acts of kindness, as well.
You can advocate for an issue you’re deeply passionate about or share a skill that would help also help others. Any kind of kindness counts in #GivingTuesday. Donate what you can at any time.
A small act of kindness will make a huge impact on this day. It takes place on December 1, 2020, Tuesday, approximately one week after Thanksgiving.
While Thanksgiving is a special day where we appreciate and recognize what we are thankful for in this life, the next week, you can make your thanks-giving all the more worthwhile by sharing your blessings.
When and how did #GivingTuesday start?
The charitable movement “Giving Tuesday” was founded eight years ago in the year 2012 to encourage people to do good deeds.
Founded by New York’s 92nd Street Y in collaboration with the United Nations Foundation, GivingTuesday started their own organization led by GivingTuesday co-founder, Asha Curran, as its CEO in July 2019.
Since then it has exponentially grown into a global movement inspiring countless people to donate, help spread the word, cooperate, and honor generosity.
This now-massive movement had inspired charitable institutions around the world resulting in tremendous donations, tireless donation drives, volunteer hours.
#GivingTuesday became a catalyst for projects and activities that make a difference in communities. It is the spirit of giving that is most important.
Now, during a pandemic where a lot of people lost their jobs, it is the perfect time to look into people’s hearts and inspire the act of giving.

With greater resources, nonprofits can dedicate more resources, increase their work hours as well as their goals, such as Sisterhood Agenda’s Global Educational Empowerment for 100,000 Girls on GlobalGiving.

The Vision
We, at Sisterhood Agenda firmly believes that the spirit of sisterhood must be the foundation of any empowerment movement for women and girls. And we aim to empower 100,000 girls worldwide!
Sisterhood Agenda has specific goals for girls. We want girls to recognize their greatness and endless possibilities in life. We create positive peer groups to provide a sense of belongingness.
Sisterhood Agenda also provides opportunities for girls to explore their career and work options, along with the development of their life skills, cultural and community awareness.
This is what Sisterhood Agenda does with its A Journey Toward Womanhood Curriculum Guide and Student Manual and 345 Activities of SisterCamp, along with other girl power resources.
Sisterhood Agenda’s global girls empowerment project is a movement that is uplifting, diverse, healing, loving, and accepting.
These 100,000 girls will be a part of a caring and nonjudgemental community where they will be guided on how to spread their wings and succeed in life, whatever they chose to be.
