BrotherCamp is a new Summer Enrichment Program initiative, that prides itself in creating ways of increasing knowledge, pride, and skills among boys for them to thrive into young men with our help as mentors.

Is BrotherCamp needed?

Everybody has a different situation. Some people have mentors in their life.

But not all of them mentor youth in a way for them to thrive. Some young people need mentoring more than others. Some people think that they do not even need a mentor at all.

For those who do (the vast majority of us), we are here to help. In BrotherCamp, boys can have good role models that will mentor them in a way for them to thrive and become even better, regardless of what their situations are away from the program.

Why is BrotherCamp important?

Kids of a young age, especially boys, are influenced by the environment that they are around. The environment is a form of influence, but there is more to it. Any child’s environment includes the people around them, the area in which they live, and their school, and anywhere they spend a significant amount of time.

Life circumstances can have positive and negative impacts on our children.

When boys come to BrotherCamp, we give them a chance to have experiences for self-development that their parents want for them.

How can BrotherCamp help?

Like the SisterCamp Summer Enrichment Program, BrotherCamp welcomes any and all ethnicities.  Yet, at Sisterhood Agenda, we understand the statistics about Black boys.

According to CNN Health, Black boys ages 16 to 17 had a homicide rate that was 18 times higher than that of White boys and 4.6 times higher than in Hispanic boys.” According to CNN Health, researchers found most of the victims 11 years old and older were killed in arguments, during a crime, or by a friend or acquaintance.

BrotherCamp is just one way that our communities can come together to raise our children.

Starting now, giving young boys a positive peer group and mentors who want to see them thrive and do right, can prevent them from becoming future statistics.  BrotherCamp can ensure that he will be the person that you, as a parent, want them to be for a productive and prosperous future.

New BrotherCamp logo

The BrotherCamp logo was designed by Youth Team member, Antonio White:

“When creating the BrotherCamp logo, I was focusing on the brotherhood aspect of the name and how I could tie that into our design.”  He continues:

“Brotherhood is not only having a relationship with your actual blood brother but with friends you really share a bond with, and that’s where the two hands doing a handshake came from.”

“Being a leader,” Antonio says, ” is a perfect trait to have.”

“Leadership shows confidence and strength and that you can get around in this world with no harm. That’s why I decided to add the crown to our logo.  The overall themes I wanted to show were brotherhood and leadership.”

Congrats, and well done!
