Sisterhood and freedom go hand-in-hand. It’s obvious and intuitive, although you won’t usually see this fact in conventional media.
Sisterhood is the key to empowerment, social change, and freedom.
Women yearning to be free
We all aspire to be free. Women, especially women of African descent and women of color, historically fight for our right to be who we are, rather than inheriting it. This is true, even though being free is commonly believed to be right, rather than a privilege.
The fight for freedom is different for each of us. However, as women, there is usually some kind of battle, and this understanding can unite us. It is Audre Lorde who said, “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.”

Nina Simone defines freedom as:
