What does a female superhero look like?
Girls are excited to see SuperGirl! Many feminists are happy to finally see a female superhero on television. Diverse superheroes like Supergirl and Storm inspire girls by showing that strength, intelligence, and bravery come in many forms. Supergirl, with her bright optimism and Kryptonian power, teaches resilience and kindness, while Storm, a weather-controlling goddess, embodies leadership and the beauty of embracing one’s unique abilities.
Women superheroes break stereotypes, proving that heroes aren’t defined by gender or background but by their courage and determination.
Female superheroes empower girls to dream big, embrace their individuality, and believe they can be heroes in their own lives. After all, saving the world isn’t just for the boys—it’s for anyone ready to take on the challenge!
While many are applauding the increased diversity in Hollywood, CBS Network decided to create a SuperGirl who looks like the promotional picture above.
In reality, a superhero like SuperGirl is more likely to look like: ALL OF US!
We know that diversity is not just about gender, but also includes race and ethnicity. SuperGirl is a woman, however, there are plenty of ethnically diverse representations of female superheroes. They all have a story to tell. We welcome more!
Girls from all backgrounds can see themselves in these characters, knowing their own uniqueness is valuable. These superheroes show that no matter who you are or where you come from, you have the potential to make a difference. By celebrating diversity, these heroes help foster self-confidence, creativity, and the idea that anyone—regardless of gender or origin—can be a hero.

Thank you for using my artwork in your blog post. Appreciate the share.
I love the idea of “super girl” yet the pictures are just more of the same old depictions of what makes for a super female. Flowing hair, large breasts, small waist, toned body and tight clothing. I totally agree that it’s important to keep our bodies healthy and toned, I feel it’s unhealthy to project one image of what that would look like. Our feminine bodies come in all sizes, just like the men. Let’s take our attention to loving our bodies for the way in which we have been given, and keep our bodies healthy for the vehicle they are. When our bodies are in balance we have an abundance of energy to achieve whatever we desire.
